Most people find choosing a wedding outfit difficult, especially as dress regulations become more and more ambiguous. However, as this is a day to honor the couple and their love, you should avoid wearing anything that can detract from their special day.

Avoid wearing white

The bride should be the only person in the bridal party who wears white. As a result, wearing white will make everyone assume you’re attempting to steal the show from the bride; remember, all eyes should be on her, not on you.

Avoid wearing uncomfortable heels

You’ll need heels that allow you to stand and move around easily while also allowing you to dance the night away without tripping over anyone or damaging your shoes and feet.

Avoid wearing all black

According to wedding etiquette expert Elaine Swann, “wearing black to a wedding has been considered as a fashion faux pas because generally the color black is connected with mourning.” Therefore, it’s advisable to avoid wearing a black outfit.

Avoid wearing jeans and sneakers

It’s understandable that selecting a wedding attire might be difficult, but avoid wearing T-shirts, shorts, or sneakers at all costs because they are inappropriate for a wedding guest. Dress formally to show respect for the bride and groom, and keep in mind that you are attending a wedding, not a party.

Avoid wearing short and too revealing dresses

According to Petite Dressing, too-short dresses might come across as trashy and vulgar, and they also risk depriving the bride of her spotlight by calling attention to you. Wearing one, however, is not recommended.
